I worked with a Cody a few weeks ago to capture his senior portraits. Cody wanted some studio and outdoor pictures for his session, so we went with a simple white background and then found some really colorful brick alleyways in downtown Mount Olive, North Carolina. Outdoor summer photo sessions mean that it's very likely to be hot and humid, so it is important not to take very long when photographing someone or the sweat will start building up. Here are some tips for senior portraits:
1) Choose a time!
The temperatures are more mild in early morning or evening and the light is better! The middle of the day is the hottest and has a more contrasting light.
2) Choose a session!
I offer 3 kinds of photo sessions: Creative, Outdoor and Studio. Creative sessions add an extra WOW factor to your portraits. Studio and outdoor portrait sessions are more traditional.
3) Choose outfit colors!
If you let me know the colors you are wearing, then I can find a background that compliments it.
4) Bring something personal!
Bring some personal items or things that you really love that might make good props. Examples: hats, necklaces, instruments etc. I've had a father moving hay bails on his tractor for her senior portraits wherever I wanted them.
5) Attitude!
Be yourself and have fun during your session! Energy and attitude are captured in photos, so bring your best!
