I recently worked with Kaitlin to do a studio portrait session in my Mount Olive studio. Kaitlin wanted portraits of her and her brother for her 16th birthday. Here are a few of the images from the session:
I used an acrylic floor to get a great reflection and to add interest to the photos. I also used a bubble beaded curtain to have a celebratory look. I thought that a grey background would keep the scene from becoming too dark, so I used a wrinkle free backdrop called Ultra Cloth.
Kaitlin did a super job following my direction for her posing. We initially struggled with the balloons that she brought to the session. It was difficult to keep them still and also to keep them from turning. We figured out that we had to tie the strings that came with balloons, in several places to keep them from getting out of control. The balloons wanted to go up toward the ceiling since they were filled with helium. I gave Kaitlin direction about when the balloons were level with each other. That wasn't easy to do, since she couldn't look at both of them at the same time while looking at the camera.
We captured some great images for her birthday and now she has memories for a lifetime.
