I don't normally like to brag about my accomplishments, but I'm really proud of a recent accomplishment that I achieved back in August. I passed the FAA part 107 drone certification test! This test is needed in order to fly a drone and be able to sell photos or video taken with them commercially.

Why did I take the Part 107 Drone Certification test you ask? If you're a real estate photographer and you don't use a drone for photos and video, then you could miss out on certain jobs. 

This was by far the hardest test I've ever taken in my life and I studied for close to 3 months for it. I've been a portrait photographer and a real estate photographer for a long time. Having a drone, will allow me to get great aerial photos and videos of properties and houses. I'll also have the capability to do roof inspections and commercial work. I've already used my drone for several real estate sessions.

While a drone can be used for real estate, it can also be used a portrait tool. I recently photographed a local high school football team with a drone, after doing their traditional team photos. The video capabilities of a drone can give a sports team a cinematic look to their program.

I have to take the certification test every two years to stay current.
