It's been a while since I've been on the blog, but I've been super busy with fall sports. I'm on track to have my busiest year ever, as I have worked with several schools and recreation leagues in Eastern North Carolina!
Recently, I photographed the athletes at Sampson Middle School in Clinton, North Carolina. Thankfully, fall has arrived and with that comes cooler temperatures, but it was anything but cool on the day that I worked with the Dark Horses athletes. The temperature was in the 90's and I must have lost a few pounds of sweat from all the heat.
The athletes were great to work with and they all took direction very well in their posing. I started off with the soccer team, taking pictures on their practice field. I then worked with the football team. Luckily, their practice field was right next to the soccer field, so I didn't have to move my equipment very far. I finished up in the air conditioned gym to photograph the volleyball team. It was a relief to work in cooler temperatures! It's also a little easier controlling light indoors, so I added a yellow gel to the lighting for the girl's portraits to add an interesting element. The girls were very creative in their posing. Many girls had an idea of what they wanted to do and I only had to give posing ideas to a few players.
