This was the busiest spring sports portrait season that I've ever had! In fact this was the best year that I've had since starting my photography business in July 2007. I'd like to thank all of my clients who help spread the word about Kirk Pullen Photography!
I was contacted by Robert Hill, who is the athletic director of Sampson Middle School. He had a parent recommend my photography services after seeing my work with the Faison Recreation center. Robert needed portraits for the girls and boys spring sports at Sampson middle school. This was my first time working with this school.
I started out taking portraits with the girls soccer team. They have amazingly well kept facilities at this school. I think the soccer field would rival any college field that I've seen. The girls soccer players were hilarious and a really fun group to work with!
I also worked with the boy baseball team. I learned an important lesson about equipment during this session. When working with several teams, it's important to chose the lightest equipment possible. I had some equipment that was a bit too heavy to lug around to three separate fields.
I finished up taking portraits with the girls softball team. I like to listen to what the athletes have in mind for their portrait and then achieve it for them. I had a few girls who wanted something more than just standing for their portrait. One of them wanted a sliding action shot, while another girl wanted to throw a ball with the dirt flying everywhere.
It was a pleasure working with the athletes at Sampson Middle School. I've already been told that the teams loved their portraits and that the school has booked me for next season!
