This spring, I worked with the soccer and volleyball players at the Faison Recreation Center. I photographed the largest group of soccer players that Faison Recreation has ever had! My legs were exhausted from doing about 200 squats to get just the right angle for each shot. The weather was great for a soccer game, but the wind was extreme, so I had to remove all my light modifiers from my lights.
My wife was taking orders while I photographed the athletes. The wind was so strong that one time it blew the order sheets out of her hands. Thank goodness for helpful and quick parents and coaches! I had to use a couple camera cases to block the wind, so that I wouldn't happen again.
The following week I worked with the girls' volleyball teams. I lowered the net for the photographs so that it would be more prominent in each image. I used three lights to separate the girls from their background and create depth in the image. This was also the largest group of volleyball players that I have photographed in the many years of working with Faison Recreation Center.
I want to thank Kim Wolfe for the image of me working with the volleyball athletes!
