I photographed the Kelly family at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina a few weeks ago. Stanley Kelly is the pastor at the church and he wanted portraits of his family and the church choir. For the first half hour I took portraits of his family outside the church. When I shoot family portraits, I like to get all the family members together for the group shot first. Children can sometimes lose their enthusiasm depending on their age. I had no such worries with the Kelly family, they were happy and enthusiastic the whole session! We went through several combinations of shots with the parents and each child. After the family portrait session, I went into the church and photographed the choir practicing their singing. Pastor Kelly wanted several pictures of his choir for the church website. The choir members were friendly and several of them introduced themselves to me before the session. During this session, I wanted to be as far away from the choir as possible as to not make them feel uncomfortable while singing, so I used a ladder and a long lens . I finished up the day with an outdoor shot of the church but the sky was a dull grey at the time, so I replaced the sky to make it a little more interesting.
